Miles fly by on Trek's amazing Madone 5.2. Sporting Trek's lauded OCLV Black carbon frame, this road rocket boasts ingenious technology for a superior ride, such as a 90mm-wide bottom bracket for maximum efficiency, sealed headset and bottom bracket bearings that simply press into the frame saving weight and reducing maintenance, and a seat mast that saves even more weight, while also boosting compliance for supreme comfort. And, this trick machine is equipped with Bontrager's corner-carving Race X Lite fork and Shimano's Ultegra SL 10-speed components for flawless shifting and braking. You'll love the aero Bontrager Race Lite wheels, too.
The Madone 5.2 is built of Trek's OCLV Black carbon. This enthusiast-level carbon employs intermediate-modulus carbon and a sophisticated lay-up for a light, stiff and compliant bicycle ideal for all-around road riding.
Bontrager's Race X Lite Carbon Fork uses a standard 1 1/8-inch steerer diameter at the top in combination with a 1 1/2-inch bottom diameter to increase fork stiffness and strength. This ingenious design also significantly reduces the weight thanks to its oversize bottom, which allows the use of a hollow aluminum crown bonded to hollow carbon legs (as opposed to the solid aluminum crowns found on most traditional forks).
Trek's Madones use an oversize front end that increases efficiency, ride quality and stability. Here you can see the head tube, which tapers to 1 1/2-inch diameter at the base to accommodate Trek's Bontrager Carbon forks with E2 steerers. This steerer is 1 1/2-inches in diameter at the base for maximum steering control, strength and weight savings (because it's possible to use less material in the fork).
Trek's Madone features a unique bottom bracket (image, right) that's 90mm wide (traditional ones are 68mm wide). This wide bottom bracket lets Trek build the frame with larger tubes for increased power transfer. Plus, the 90mm bottom bracket is machined so that the bearings can be placed directly into the frame (image) saving weight (due to fewer parts), ensuring additional pedaling efficiency and simplifying maintenance and repair.

Instead of a conventional seatpost, Trek's Madone boasts a seat mast (image). Compared to traditional seatposts (image, left) and also modern integrated seat masts, this engineering masterpiece boosts strength and pedaling efficiency, saves weight, increases compliance a whopping 39% (for maximum comfort), and offers all the adjustability you'll ever need (no cutting required). It lets your Trek fit in a UPS-compatible box for shipping, too!
This chart shows the maximum seat height for each Madone frame size. To determine which is right for you, we recommend measuring the seat height on your current bicycle.
