Big wheels, big speed; Jamis' Dragon 29'er gives you both. It boasts Reynolds' legendary 853 chromoly frame that is light, buttery smooth and exceptionally durable for a world-class ride. The big American Classic hoops are lightweight, and combined with the Geax tires they easily roll over trail obstacles, offer a large, grippy contact patch and hold their speed well over rolling terrain. Plus, you get RockShox' top-notch Reba fork, a flawless Shimano XT drivetrain, powerful Avid discs and a host of aluminum components from Ritchey. It all adds up to one blazing-fast ride.
Thanks to a treatment called air hardening, the strength-to-weight ratio of Reynolds 853 chromoly actually equals that of quality titanium. While normal chromoly loses strength at the joints after welding, due to air hardening, 853 actually increases in strength. This creates a stiffer frame with excellent fatigue strength and a phenomenal ride.
